Paleocinema Podcast 9 - Rififi, Topkapi, Prizefights and Time Machines
In this podcast I look at Jules Dassin's two classic crime caper movies, Rififi and Topkapi - the sources from which all subsequent caper movies evolved. In the film noir segment I talk about Robert Wise's 1949 boxing film, The Set-Up, based (believe it or not) on a 1929 poem by Joseph Moncure March and finally, the third of my alternative Magnificent Seven action film stars of the 1960s - Australian actor Rod Taylor.

Burglars beware, we have people house-sitting.

Quantum of Solace Poster Is Out
The first teaser poster for the new James Bond movie is out. As a primo Bond fan, this gives me a little frisson. The name of the movie is a bit lame. The Ian Fleming short story of that name is less of a James Bond story than an attempt by Fleming to write a Somerset Maugham story in which Bond is a character. But I have high hopes for the movie.

Alvin Has Been Banished
The Chipmunk Podcast Problem has been solved. Thanks to cerpts for pointing it out. Hopefully it's a non-recurring phenomenon. Now I'm off to watch both the 1946 and the 1964 version of Hemingway's "The Killers" which Umbrella Entertainment have just released locally.
